About Us

The Nandolo Farmers Association of Malawi (NFAM) was established with the intention of being the voice of all pigeon pea farmers. The association was formed in June 2015 through Participatory Market System Development (P.M.S.D) which was organised by Christian Aid from 2013 to 2015.

After observing serious marketing and supply chain gaps it was identified that Pigeon pea farmers were exploited and unable to reap the fruits of their labour. Pigeon peas produce a lucrative amount of business around the world, but for the small hold farmers they were unable to gain access to the export trading market and so often foods went to waste and a financial loss for the farmers.

NFAM therefore, became an established organisation be the link of pigeon pea farmers trading pigeon peas from production to marketing. Currently, the association has accumulated membership of over Ten thousand Pigeon pea producers across the country. Many of these farmers lives have changed for the better and continues to do so as we work together.
